Serve this burger on your next family brunch gathering and it’ll definitely be a crowd pleaser. Not only will it turn heads but it’ll tantalize their taste buds.🤩 Swap out those regular buns for plantain buns, which are rich fiber, vitamins A, C, and B-6, and the minerals magnesium and potassium. Plantains have resistant starch, a healthy carb that boosts metabolism and burns fat. This burger is also gluten free and contains all your essential macronutrients; healthy fats, complex carbs and protein. Along with the perfectly portioned plantain chips, this meal comes in at 570 cals, compared to you Big Mac Meal which holds a whooping 1080 cals. Ingredients:
- 1 lb Grass-Fed Ground Beef
- Red onion slices
- 1 TBS Chopped Garlic
- 1 cup chopped green onions
- Sea salt
- Ground black pepper
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- 1 TBS beef bouillon
- 4 semi ripe plantains
- 2 TBS Olive oil
- sea salt to taste
- Avocado slices
Directions:
- Cilantro Sauce: Blend green onions, garlic, cilantro, olive oil, beef bouillon and black pepper and set aside.
- Add 3/4 of the cilantro mixture to a mixing bowl and combine with ground beef, salt and pepper to taste.
- Mix well and form burgers (I recommend forming them into more of an oblong shape rather than a circle so that they fit on the plantains better).
- Grill, broil or pan fry your burgers until they reach your desired temperature.
- To create the plantain buns peel your plantains and cut them in half, first across the width and then length wise.
- Place the plantain slices in airfryer at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove them from the pan and use a heavy pot or plate to gently flatten each slice. Place them back into the airfryer and cook for another 15 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with sea salt and set them aside.
- To construct your burger, place the burger on the plantain bun and top with a generous amount of the reserved cilantro sauce, avocado slices and red onions.
- Serve warm with habanero pepper sauce and plantain chips.
Enjoy!
